Winter wedding venues in France: how to choose, and is it cheaper?
As of 12 October 2026, 110 dates are open between November and March, at a median of €5,400 against €6,900 across all seasons — roughly 22% less.
Is winter actually cheaper?
The answer sits in two figures, taken from the dates genuinely open as of 12 October 2026:
- Median price for a date between November and March: €5,400
- Median price across all seasons: €6,900
The saving is real, but it is not the only argument: in winter the most sought-after venues are free, and booking is a matter of months rather than years.

What to check, and what photos never show
- Heating: which rooms are heated, and how? A barn that is glorious in July can be unusable in January.
- Indoor fallback: everything must work inside, ceremony included. Plan B becomes plan A.
- Light: darkness falls at 5pm. Couple photographs, drinks and the ceremony are timed differently.
- Access: a gravel drive or a country road in frost, for guests who do not know the area.
What winter gives you
Fireplaces, candles, a dinner that starts early and runs long, and guests who stay on site instead of driving home. Over a full weekend with accommodation, it is often the warmest season of all.
