What to check before comparing
A €4,000 venue is not necessarily cheaper than a €6,500 one. The three differences that cost the most afterwards:
- Length of hire: one day, a two-night weekend, or three days. A cheaper single day can end up dearer once the eve and the morning after are added.
- Accommodation: beds included save your family hotel nights, and that is usually where the real difference lies.
- Catering: free choice or imposed. An imposed caterer can wipe out what you saved on the hire.
Where these dates sit
Rarely a Saturday in July or August. A Friday, a Sunday, or a date in April, October or November, however, is often very affordable — and often negotiable.
