The Venue Advisors

What to ask before booking a château for your wedding

Beyond the photos, check what will make the day work: the wet-weather plan, the spaces for ceremony, drinks and dinner, accommodation, curfew, required suppliers and extra costs.

The questions to ask

  1. What happens if it rains? Which covered space, for how many guests?
  2. Where do the ceremony, drinks reception and dinner take place?
  3. How many people can sleep on site, and for how many nights?
  4. Is there a curfew or a noise limit?
  5. Is the caterer of your choice, from an approved list or in-house?
  6. What is included: furniture, cleaning, parking, access the day before?
  7. Which extra costs may apply: deposit, electricity, security?
  8. How do suppliers access the venue for set-up?

Where to find the answers

On The Venue Advisors, the "At a glance" section of each listing groups this information when the owner has filled it in. For anything else, messaging lets you ask the owner directly, and a visit can be requested from the listing.
